One of the first attractions on your list during your time in Hue City should be the Imperial Hue Citadel.  This is the most popular attraction within Hue City, so if you see nothing else, you will have at least seen the best of the best within this part of the country.  Inside this UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will find many different gardens, lakes, and trees, as you wander around looking at the buildings and learning the history of the area.

As soon as you are finished at the Citadel, you must venture over to the Perfume River, where the Thien Mu Pagoda can be found.  This pagoda is considered the most popular of all the pagodas in the country of Vietnam.  The twenty-one floors of the Phuoc Duyen Tower are used to worship different Buddhas, so you will have quite the experience during a visit.  It is important to note that you must have your entire body covered if you want to enter this pagoda, which is common for many religious sites within this country and the rest of the world.

The first option would be another mausoleum.  We recommend the Minh Mang Tomb, because it is where Emperor Minh Mang was buried in the largest royal tomb in the city.  The work on this tomb began in 1841 and Emperor Minh Mang died one month into the construction process.  He was buried in the unfinished tomb seven months later and it took another two years for the work to finally be completed.
