Itinerary
The Demilitarized Zone was removed upon the reunification of Vietnam. The zone holds most of the traumatic and heroic stories during the wars. Historical sites and war remnants are found in several places within the Demilitarized Zone. Citizens and tourists are still being urged to explore the area with caution as there still some undetonated bombs. During the tour, you will learn and come to love the formidable spirit of Vietnamese people.
HUE TO DMZ PRIVATE TOUR
- 7:30 a.m : Pick up at your hotel in Hue city and travel to the Demilitarized Zone in Quang Tri Province. While on the road, you can enjoy the beautiful landscape of Central Vietnam.
- 9:00 a.m : Arrive at La Vang Holy Land. The historical place is located in Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province. Catholics in Vietnam believe that Mary appeared in this area in 1978 and a church was erected near the three banyan tree and La Vang Holy Land became an important site of religious pilgrimage.
- Along the Highway 9, you will have a glimpse of the Rock Pile Hill. This US military base was strategically placed at the top of the hill that can only be reached by helicopter. It protected the American troops from wild animals roaming around the area and was used as a watchtower to observe the activities of the Vietnam People’s Army in the demilitarized zone in Quang Tri Province from 1966 to 1968.
- Stop to admire the Dakrong Bridge. The bridge is one of the main branches of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, which leads south to the A Shau valley and the infamous “Hamburger Hill”.
- Visit the Khe Sanh Combat Base, a large Marine base camp in Demilitarized Zone that was attacked by forces of the North Vietnamese Army to distract the American and South Vietnamese Troops before the Tet Offensive in early 1968.
- 12:00 p.m : Head back to Highway 1 to have lunch at a local restaurant in Dong Ha town.
- 2:00 p.m : Visit the Hien Luong bridge over the Ben Hai river. The river that was the only true demarcation line between the North and South of Vietnam after the Geneva agreement. While the Hien Luong Bridge is recognized as a special national historical relics.
- 3:00 p.m : Visit the fascinating Vinh Moc tunnels. Vinh Moc tunnel is known for sheltering hundreds of unarmed villagers in the DMZ during the massive bombardments of American troops in the Vietnam War (1965 -1966). The tunnel is the largest in Central Vietnam and it includes wells, kitchens and family rooms and spaces for healthcare.
- 4:30 p.m : Drive back to Hue City Center. End of your full day Hue to DMZ tour.

The tour is also thrilling and top-notch as we were picked up at our hotel and we also enjoy an enchanting landscape of Central Vietnam on the way. Our guide also gave us enough time to take Instagram-worthy pictures of the numerous landmarks we found on the way.
