Hue To Phong Nha 2 Days – Private Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Hue – Quang Binh
The attractions included in the first-day itinerary are Hue, Demilitarized Zone, Vinh Moc Tunnels, and Phong Nha Town.
In the morning
- 8:00 am to 8:30 am: Our driver will pick you up from the accommodation so we can start the wonderful day. From Hue to Phong Nha, the first stop will be after two and a half hour’s drive at the DMZ area in the Quang Tri province.
- The province was the most bombarded area during the war in the entire military history of Vietnam. This is the most famous area to learn about the war history, details, and famous historical sites. Visitors can click photos to learn about the war.
- 11.00 am – 11.30 am: After exploring the resilient past of Vietnam, we will take you to the beautiful Hien Luong Bridge. You can enjoy the stunning views of the Ben Hai River. During the war, this bridge divided and separated the Northern and Southern sides of Vietnam. There are many bomb craters and old bunkers in this area from the war.
In the Afternoon
- 12:00 pm: This 2-kilometer-long Vinh Moc tunnel system housed 60 families and gave birth to 17 children. Despite being one of the most heavily hit regions during the war, every single resident in Vinh Moc survived the conflict 25 meters below. Walk into the tunnels to gain a unique perspective on Vietnamese life during these difficult times.
- 03:00 p.m: The day finishes with many memorable experiences. We will take you to Son Trach Village near the cave to have a calm and relaxing night’s stay.
Day 2: Visit Phong Nha Cave and Dark Cave (B, L)
In the morning
- 08:15 am to 08:45 am: Our tour vehicle and guide will take you up at Dong Hoi or your hotel in Phong Nha. You will visit the most magnificent Phong Nha caves. They are located at a 45-minute drive and 25 minutes on the boat. Phong Nha cave exploration will take a couple of hours to complete. This cave is famous for its interesting rock formations and is known as Water Cave. The names of its notable rock formations are known as the “Buddha”, “Fairy Caves,” “Lion” and “Royal Court”.
- 12:00 pm: We will offer a delicious meal before exploring the Dark Cave in a local restaurant in Phong Nha Village.
In the afternoon
- 01:00 – 04:30 pm: Visit the Dark Cave which is quite wonderful, with several adventurous activities. This cave is known as the dark cave because it is largely constructed of basalt and limestone. The name “Dark” is given to the cave due to the black Basalt rocks. We will provide you with the headlamps to pass down the passage, surrounded by basalt and limestone.
- You will be covered in mud after going through the passage which will make you ready for another swim by the time we finish the crossing. We will walk farther into the cave, where the breadth is likely to be 100 m. There are stalagmites formations where people duck to pass. They can switch off their headlamps to experience swimming in the dark.
- Activities: Zip-line, Soft Caving, Muddy bath, kayaking, swimming, and walking. Don’t forget to bring swimwear, a Towel, and environment-friendly insect repellent.
- 05:00 – 05:30 pm: The tour ends with a visit to Dong Hoi. You can take a night train or bus to the Northern area (Sapa, Ha Noi, Ninh Binh, and Hai Phong).

Phong Nha cave
Phong Nha Cave is one of the main attractions in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park. Paradise Cave and Phong Nha Cave are two very popular caves in this area. The entrance to the Phong Nha cave is a long river whereas Paradise Cave begins with wooden walkways from which you can explore the area safely. Both caves are good to enjoy with kids.
Quang Tri Province
It was one of the most bombarded areas in Vietnam during the war. Now, it is the transport hub with many economic and geographical advantages. It connects different trade routes in the country. Vietnamese government constantly improves the province by working on the social sector, health, poverty reduction, education, sports, and culture.
DMZ area
Vietnam has a very painful and resilient past. The demilitarized zone is the best area to witness the past of Vietnam. It was established in 1954 during the Geneva Agreement. Hien Luong Bridge, Ben Hai River
It is the center of Hien Luong, which is considered a historical relic of Vietnam. The bridge is located over the Ben Hai River. It separated North and South Vietnam for a long time. Initially, it was a wooden bridge with iron pillars that connected a small part of the pedestrian road. The bridge was renewed in 1952, with reinforced concrete. This bridge was destroyed in the Vietnam War. At the time of restoration, the size of the bridge was 182.97 with the old design of the bridge.
Vinh Moc tunnels
Vinh Linh, Quang Tri Province is home to this massive and unique underground tunnel system. It was used as a shelter for thousands of people in the war. People used the tunnels for all the important things and such as giving birth, weddings, meetings, and protecting their families from bombing. However, visitors can witness the difficulties Vietnamese people face in the darkness of the tunnels.
Son Trach village
