Absolutely recommended, especially as early in your Hoi An stay as possible. We learned so much about central Vietnamese cuisine, got to taste a heap of different dishes at restaurants that specialize in them, plus the chance to make our own spring rolls at a local home. The bingo was fun, and the boat ride at the end a lovely way to finish. Our tour guide spoke very good English and was funny and engaging with lots of insights about Vietnamese life.
We were lucky to have Phoung for our guide. We had a lovely time , especially at a local host house where we had some local dishes. Each dish was clearly explained, including what’s in each dish and how to eat it. sorry for missing photos for what we had. too busy eating. The guide was also very friendly besides eating, we caught the view of Hoi An from a rooftop cafe, strolled leisurely along the riverbank and night market, had a boat ride and the night ended with a lively and entertaining communal game of local bingo with other… Read more »
a great food tour experience that must try , nice tour guide , a must try. I would recommend this tour.
I arrived to Hoi An in the middle of the day with an empty stomach, no plans/bookings other than my hotel. I was lucky enough to find this through an online search and they happened to have a guide available on super short notice. Long (Short) who was my guide arrived early at my hotel and got a plate of food and coffee in front of me within minutes. We visited I believe 6 or 7 locations (I lost track) and ate several dishes. Some locations had 2 dishes and others 1. Almost everything I tried was either new to… Read more »
We had a wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed the different types of street food that we tried (which we would have been nervous to try on our own) – really got to experience local cuisine and having our own tour guide really added to the experience! The food was incredible as was our tour guide Phuong. Phuong was attentive, insightful, accomodating and good company – thank you!
Our guide Phuong was super professional and guided us through the hustle and bustle as well as the quaint back streets of Hoi An. A feast for all senses. The restaurants and food stalls visited were off the beaten tourist track and the food fresh and authentic.
We went with a 4.5 year old toddler and she had an absolute blast too.
Our guide spoke fluently English and was very knowledgable about her city, cuisine and local traditions.
All in all a wonderful experience.
One piece of advice, do go on an empty stomach, the portions are generous and delicious.
Went on this tour hosted by Phuong as a family of 3, each of us had a great time. It’s a really fabulous way to sample a variety of different foods with the support of a great guide, it certainly helped us as this is our first time in Vietnam. Tried a few places off the beaten track and the variety was welcome. Before we went on this tour we wondered what could be so special about a meat filled baguette. Having now been for Banh Mi we totally get it, truly wonderful food.
We were greeted by our tour guide Phuong who was a delight from beginning to end. She is very knowledgeable, engaging and friendly. The food sampled is a mix of popular foods as well as less known local delicacies. The tour takes you to numerous local houses that specialise is particular dishes. Without this tour you would never know they existed! You get a real insight into Vietnamese local life, in addition to meeting some absolutely lovely vendors and hosts in the process. Highly recommended. And when you are told to come hungry, this is no joke. The amount of… Read more »
It was only my wife and I, so getting along with our guide was essential. Phuong took us to a lot of “secret” places, from the best dumpling shop that makes over 5000 units a day, to the Ban Mi shop where the sauce recipe is closer guarded than the Coca-Cola formula! We ate waaaayyy to much and enjoyed meeting the local ladies in their home for yet another meal. The walk was short and easy and Phuong knows her way around
Phuong was incredible and she made the tour amazing. Her knowledge of the places we went and the stories behind the food was inspiring and made the adventure that much more enjoyable. We ended the night with full bellies and big smiles on our faces. Highly recommended!
It’s hard to describe how awesome this experience was. Phuong is the perfect person to be leading this kind of tour and treated us like family. We got to see and taste things that are local secrets and now they’re our favorites
