What to See in Da Nang During an Extraordinary Vacation There

When you are in Vietnam, you cannot possibly just stay in one city or town, because the entire country is full of such incredible sights.  However, it can be difficult to choose which areas you will spend more time in than others.  When you are planning your time in Vietnam, I recommend that you spend a good amount of your time in Da Nang. The reason for this is that there is a ton of things to see in this part of the country.

What to See in Da Nang During an Extraordinary Vacation There

Hai Van Pass

If you only have time to see one thing when you are near Da Nang, you must choose to see Hai Van Pass.  This stunning area is a mountain pass that can be quite treacherous at times, but it is also known for its magnificent views.  Most people simply rush through the nearby tunnel and forget about appreciating the true beauty of this area.  You must use caution when traveling on Hai Van Pass, because the windy roads and the fog can lead to a disaster.  If you want to stay safe, you may want to experience this wonderful destination via a train ride instead of a drive on a motorbike.

Da Nang Cathedral

When you are looking at what to see in Da Nang, the Da Nang Cathedral will probably make its way towards the top of your list.  The architecture on this building is quite unique and you will probably wonder why it has been painted pink.  If for nothing else, you must take a few minutes to stop and see the intricate details that are everywhere, both inside and out.

Dragon Bridge

The Dragon Bridge was constructed over the River Han, which runs right through Da Nang.  This bridge was opened to vehicles back in 2013 and if you look at the bridge from a distance, you will see that it looks like a leaping dragon.  At one end, there is even what looks like the dragon’s head!  While the bridge is fabulous during the day, it is at night when it is all lit up and the Luanda show is going on that you will truly love being near this structure.

Son Tra National Park

If you have time to travel outside of this area, you must add Son Tra National Park to your list of places to see in Da Nang.  The journey will take you approximately thirty-five minutes, but that time is nothing for what you see when you arrive.  Imagine roaming around small beaches like Bai Nam, Bai Bac, and Tien Sa and watching all the activities going on in the water and on the sand.

My Khe Beach

If you want to spend an entire day at the beach, or do not want to travel too far from Da Nang, then My Khe Beach must be on your list.  This beach is only seven kilometers from the city, and it is popular with locals and tourists alike.  If you love to surf, or love watching the surfers out in the water, you may want to plan your trip between the months of September and December.  It is during those months that the waves are the best for this sport.

Marble Mountains

The Marble Mountains can be found not too far to the south of the city, but these are more like hills than the massive mountains that you may be used to seeing.  These five hills are called Thuy, Kim, Moc, Hoa, and Tho, but you will only be able to explore the sights on Thuy.  When you are at Marble Mountains, you must plan on spending the day, so you can explore the caves and see the numerous temples and pagodas.  Out of all the things that will be on your list of what to see in Da Nang, this attraction must be at the very top of your list.

The Markets

There are many different markets in Da Nang and each one offers something unique.  Therefore, it is imperative that you take the time to see a few during your visit.  You will be amazed at all the different fruits, vegetables, and meats that are available at each market, but what may surprise you the most is all the other different items that you can purchase.  A few of those items include health supplements, electronics, and even household items.

It is important to note that it can be a little overwhelming to go through a market for the first time.  There are always thousands of people wandering around, doing their daily or weekly shopping, and it can appear busier than the busiest city street.  However, with a little patience and practice, you will become a pro at shopping at any of the markets you venture through.

These are the best things when it comes to what to see in Da Nang during your time there.  You may need to prioritize your list according to the time that you have available, but if you plan carefully, you should be able to get everything in.
