Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park is a home to the largest natural cave in the world by volume. It is known as S<\/em>on Doong Cave<\/em><\/strong> Vietnam. It has a subterranean river flowing from it as a largest cross section of any cave in the world.<\/p>\n

The cave was discovered by a local man Ho Khanh in 1991 but he forgot the entrance of the cave after returning. He again found it and informed British Cave Research Association, they explored the area and included it in the largest wonders of the world. It is one of a kind majestic cave that holds many world records. A major part of the cave is still unexplored.<\/p>\n

Cave expedition of Son Doong cave<\/em><\/strong> is for 3 to 4 days. It includes two extra days for logistics and important activities. Cave is open for tourists from January to August and after that it is closed due to extreme weather and rains.<\/p>\n

  • Food<\/strong> \u2013 Food is mostly included in the tour package. Chefs are hired to cook fresh Vietnamese food or BBQ during the trip.<\/li>\n

  • Composting Toilet<\/strong> \u2013 Mostly tour companies arrange composting toilets that convert human waste into compost. Toilets are taken out and cleaned after every trip.<\/li>\n
  • Valuable items<\/strong> \u2013 Do not take big amount of money or valuable items on the cave expedition. Such items can get damaged or lost in the jungle.<\/li>\n
  • Clothing<\/strong> \u2013 Keep non waterproof trekking shoes that dry quickly, full sleeve T-shirts and Long pants. Shorts and other exposing clothes are not recommended to avoid sunburns, thorns, rashes, poison ivy or any kind of bug bite.<\/li>\n
  • Electricity<\/strong> \u2013 There is no electricity in the cave so you cannot charge phone, tablet and other electronic devices. There is a satellite phone to connect in case of emergency.<\/li>\n
