When Vietnam was divided into North and South, there was a beautiful destination directly in the middle. That area is, and was, known as the Bach Ma National Park and it offers so much more than other national parks within the country and even the world. If you take the time to look at the Bach Ma National Park map, you will see that this magnificent destination is filled with waterfalls, lush forests, and even flowering rhododendrons and other plants.
Bach Ma National Park
This national park is comprised of approximately twenty-two thousand square kilometers and the highest peak is Mount Bach Ma at one thousand four hundred forty-eight meters. This entire area had it rough when the Vietnam War was taking place, because of the fighting and how the soldiers used the land. However, Bach Ma National Park weathered that horrendous period of time and now thrives as a protected area.
One of the only things that remains from the war is the Bach Ma Tunnels. These tunnels are not marked on the Bach Ma National Park map, because people are not encouraged to enter them. The reason for this is numerous venomous snakes and insects live within the tunnels and it is too easy to get bitten and have a terrible, and possibly deadly, reaction.
While you can visit Bach Ma National Park at any time of the year, it is best to go during the dry season, which is from December through April. Since there is less precipitation, it is easier to walk through the jungle without slipping on the trails or on the rocks.
You can venture to Bach Ma National Park on your own, but it is best to take a tour for your visit. There are a number of reasons for this, but it is mainly because it is much easier to get there via a tour. Plus, you have a guide that will take you on the best trails, while providing information you will want to know about the park itself.
Do Quyen Waterfall
There are so many things to see and do within Bach Ma National Park, but one of the best ones is the Do Quyen Waterfall. This waterfall is easy to find on the Bach Ma National Park map and once you see it for the first time, you will realize why it is at the top of everyone’s list of things to do while visiting this park.
To reach the Do Quyen Waterfall, you must walk along a twelve kilometer stretch of paved road from the bottom of Mount Bach Ma. This road will take you to a trail that goes along the river and you will pass by Ngu Ho Waterfall before you reach Do Quyen.
The entire journey can be a little challenging with all its steep slopes and water crossings, so you will want to be prepared by wearing appropriate shoes. If you have difficulty walking, this may not be the best adventure for you while you are vacationing in Vietnam.
It will take you approximately fifty minutes to reach the top of this waterfall. Once you get there, you can enjoy the beauty from the top or you can climb down the six hundred and eighty-nine steps to the base of the falls. It is best to take breaks on your way down, so you can appreciate the true beauty of the area and the sound of the rushing water. Plus, since the steps can be a little treacherous, you may need to take your time as you make your way down.
It normally takes people about an hour to reach the bottom of the steps and once you get there, you will be met with the water that falls from one hundred and fifty meters above. When you are ready to leave, you will have no choice but to climb the steps back up to the top. This small fact is what prevents many people from making the journey down in some scenarios.
Bach Ma National Park Fees
There is a fee to enter this national park, but it is reasonable at 40,000 VND. That fee is normally included within your tour rate if you take a tour instead of going on your own.
While there are many different things you can do in this park, it is recommended that you take the time to walk around and see the Do Quyen Waterfall as well. The journey to the waterfall might be challenging, but it will allow you to see much of the beauty that is available within this park. There is nothing more beautiful that the area of the Bach Ma National and it is one of the many things that makes Vietnam such a special destination.
