Every year, a big number of local and foreign tourists visit due to its high cultural and historical importance.
- One Pillar Pagoda: One Pillar Pagoda is regarded as a symbol monument of Hanoi’s thousand-year civilization. Emperor Ly Thai Tong erected the temple between 1028 and 1054 during the Ly Dynasty. One Pillar Pagoda was built of wood on a single stone pillar to mimic a lotus blossom, the emblem of purity, coming out of a sea of grief. This unique pagoda is a repository of several important traditional Vietnamese values, and it guarantees to be a highlight of your Hanoi trip itinerary.
- Tran Quoc Pagoda: Tran Quoc Pagoda, located on a small peninsula on the east side of Hanoi West Lake, is considered the oldest ancient pagoda in Hanoi, with a history that dates back more than 1,500 years. This Buddhist center’s architecture is a subtle blend of solemn and beautiful landscape on the peaceful and quiet ambiance of West Lake’s surface. Despite urbanization, the pagoda has retained its popularity and unique architectural qualities.
- Hoan Kiem Lake: Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Returned Sword), located in the heart of Vietnam’s capital, is well-known for its serene beauty, cultural and historical significance. - Ngoc Son Temple and The Huc Bridge: Ngoc Son Temple is a pagoda on Jade island in the heart of the city. It was built in the 18th century to commemorate the 13th century military leader Tran Hung Dao. The iconic Huc Bridge leads to the temple.
- Museum of Ethnology: Museum of Ethnology is located in Hanoi’s Cau Giay District, about 10 kilometers from the city center. The museum spans more than 4 hectares and features three major show areas (Drum Dong building, the Southeast Asian exhibition area, and the outdoor exhibition area). Museum of Ethnology offers a fascinating peek into the customs and habits of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups. This is not just a location to learn about cultural history, but it is also a research center for ethnographic studies.
- Temple of Literature: Temple of Literature, dedicated to Confucius and other famous scholars, was completed in 1070 under the reign of King Ly Thanh Tong. It was considered Vietnam’s first university. Hundreds of well-known Vietnamese scholars and mandarins were educated here.
